I will be back soon
Legendary Highlife musician Kwabena Kwabena has opened up about his spirituality, his hiatus from church, and his plans to return in an interview on Joy Prime’s Changes program with Roselyn Felli, monitored by MyNewsGh.
When asked about his relationship with God, Kwabena shared, “I speak to God every time, every moment of my life. I haven’t been going to church lately, but I will be back.
I plan to start fellowshipping again this year. I just had some personal things to deal with.” The musician explained that his absence from church wasn’t due to any major incident but was more about personal reflection and growth.
He added, “There were things that weren’t sitting well with me. I didn’t want to be a celebrity in church; I wanted to focus on my relationship with God. I just wanted to blend in like any other member and let God be the celebrity.”
Kwabena also reflected on his experience of receiving attention in church.
He confessed that being singled out in church sermons made him uncomfortable, explaining,
“It always bothered me that people were focused on me instead of God.
“Every week, there would be a sermon where my name was mentioned, and it didn’t sit well with me. I just wanted to be part of the congregation.”
