Rapper Too $hort’s brother Wayne Shaw shot dead after confronting robbers

Wayne Shaw, the older brother of rapper Too $hort, has been shot dead following a shooting in East Oakland.

The incident occurred on Wednesday, January 29, when Shaw, aged 61, was gunned down on a sidewalk after attempting to intervene in a robbery attempt.

According to the Oakland Police Department, the suspects tried to force their way into a local weed dispensary by ramming a vehicle into its entrance.

Shaw, who was nearby, stepped outside to confront the robbers but was met with gunfire. The assailants fled the scene shortly afterwards, leaving Shaw critically injured.

Despite being rushed to the hospital, Shaw was later declared dead by paramedics.

Lt. Gloria Beltran of the Oakland Police Department provided further details, saying, “The suspects arrived at the location and tried to break into the property.

As they did so, the victim stepped out and was confronted by the suspects, who then fired multiple shots at him.”

Police are now looking into whether Shaw had any involvement with the marijuana business at the property.

While the investigation continues, it’s worth noting that there are no records showing a cannabis permit was issued for that specific address.
