Ghana’s parliament is a house of shame
Blakk Rasta, in a fiery monologue on his Urban Blend show on 3FM monitoed by MyNewsGh, did not mince words about the state of Ghana’s Parliament.
Reacting to the recent suspensions of some Members of Parliament (MPs) following the chaos during the ministerial vetting, the outspoken radio host questioned the credibility of the country’s legislative body.
“Some MPs have been suspended, yet Afenyo-Markin is not part of them. If he was truly the ringleader, why is he not facing punitive measures?” Blakk Rasta queried, expressing frustration over what he perceived as selective justice.
His criticism escalated as he likened Ghana’s Parliament to infamous descriptions used by former U.S. President Donald Trump for certain nations.
“At this point, I don’t know what to say about Ghana’s Parliament anymore,” he lamented. “It’s a shame of a Parliament House! In fact, it’s a house of—excuse my French—the same way Donald Trump describes some countries!”
Blakk Rasta did not stop at the suspensions but delved into broader accusations of corruption and manipulation. “From allegations of bribery and corruption to pleas and manipulations, what we have here is a Parliament drowning in deep crisis—this crisis is called shame!”
Reacting to reports that MPs were involved in acts of vandalism, breaking tables and microphones, he fumed: “If I am this hurt, how would the constituents who voted for these hooligans feel? I wish there was a way we could vote them out before their term ends!”
Calling for stronger disciplinary action, he suggested: “Suspend all of them! Let them pay three times the cost of the tables and microphones they destroyed. Let them write apology letters to the good people of Ghana! They are not ‘honourable’; they are vandals!”
Blakk Rasta concluded by condemning the ethical and intellectual capacity of these lawmakers, questioning their education and moral upbringing.
“I don’t know what teachers taught these people. Did they ever take lessons in morality and civics? Because a lot of these guys are just politicians with no other skills apart from lying and tricking the people!”
