I don’t pay attention to nonsense – Nana Aba Anamoah on staying unbothered

In an era where social media negativity can break even the toughest individuals, ace media personality Nana Aba Anamoah has mastered the art of selective attention.
In a recent interview with Roselyn Felli on Joy Prime monitored by MyNewsGh, she opened up about her unwavering resilience in the face of criticism.
At the risk of sounding arrogant, Nana Aba boldly stated, “I really don’t pay attention to a lot of things. Sometimes, you may think I’m bothered, but I’m not. In fact, most of the time, I’m not bothered because I really do not know what’s going on.”
She revealed that, at times, she has no idea she is trending until someone like Philip Knight sends her a message.
“But even then, it hardly fazes her. “People’s opinions about me really do not matter to me. If you think I’m a nice person, that’s okay. If you think I’m not, that’s your headache. I won’t make it my cup of tea.”
To protect her peace, Nana Aba utilizes social media filters extensively. “I have muted so many words. If you come under my comment and leave a rude remark, I won’t see it. You will think Nana Aba has seen it, but I haven’t.”
She added that even her close friends and family know better than to inform her about online chatter. “When my siblings hear people discussing me, they won’t tell me. My mother won’t call me because she knows she’ll be wasting her time.”
The veteran broadcaster, however, admitted that she wasn’t always this unaffected. “In the beginning, it used to affect me a lot. So, I went into therapy. My therapist told me, ‘You don’t have a problem. You just need to block out all the rubbish.’ That advice changed everything for me.”
For Nana Aba, mental peace is non-negotiable. “I protect my sanity at all costs. If you bring insanity into my space, I will cut you off for life.”
