Ken Agyepong Urges Clergy-Politician Collaboration for National Development

A leading member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Hon. Kennedy Agyepong, has called on religious leaders from both the Christian and Islamic faiths to collaborate with the political class in the interest of national development.
According to the him, the clergy wields greater influence over the population due to the high level of trust Ghanaians place in religious leaders. He expressed concern that although Ghana is a predominantly Christian country, the actions of many citizens do not reflect the values of the faith.
“Despite the fact that over 70 percent of Ghanaians identify as Christians, the behavior of many leaves much to be desired. That is why I believe the clergy must partner the political class to help shape the moral compass of our society,” he emphasized. Mr. Agyepong made the remarks during a special Easter Sunday service at the Calvary Methodist Church, Adabraka, in Accra. The occasion also featured the launch of a book titled “Once Upon a Sunday”, authored by the Diocesan Bishop, Rt. Rev. Nii Nmai Ollennu.
In support of the church and the literary work, Mr. Agyepong donated GH¢20,000 towards the launch of the book. He also pledged to finance the installation of the church’s air-conditioning system as the Church is currently under-going renovations. He was accompanied by some party members and supporters who joined him for the service.
