Only God watches our closets – Mavis Asante on judging secular musicians

Gospel singer Mavis Asante says it’s not her place to judge the faith of secular artists, even as she maintains her position against gospel-secular collaborations.
She was asked whether her stance meant she didn’t believe secular musicians knew God In her interview on Joy Prime TV monitored by MyNewsGh.
“Oh, with that, I can’t dispute the fact that some secular musicians are Christians,” she said. “And I can’t sit here and say who knows God and who doesn’t know God.
“I’m not in that position to do that, because everybody is different. Whatever we do in our closet, nobody’s there. It’s only God that watches us.”
Mavis acknowledged that some secular artists may indeed have strong personal faith but insisted that gospel collaborations should remain within the fold of believers who minister through gospel music.
Mavis Asante, popularly known as “Supremelady,” is a Ghanaian gospel musician, ordained Reverend minister, and marriage counselor. She hails from Anyinasu in the Ashanti Region of Ghana. Beyond her musical career, she is also recognized as a wife, mother, and church leader.
