Hunger is killing Instagram people — Peller reveals

Popular Nigerian streamer and internet personality, Peller, has stirred conversation online after bluntly declaring that skit-making on Instagram is no longer a profitable venture.
In a recent live session with fans on TikTok, the outspoken content creator pointed out a significant shift in the digital content space, emphasizing that many skit makers have moved to TikTok due to dwindling income from Instagram.
“You see any content creator for Instagram wey still dey post skit? E no dey pay. All of them don come TikTok. We are doing live video together, can you see.
Hunger is killing everybody. Hunger is killing a lot of Instagram people. When last you see say person post funny Instagram skit…” he said.
Peller’s remarks highlight the growing concerns among digital creators about changing audience behavior and platform monetization.
With TikTok’s booming popularity and features that support real-time engagement and earnings, many skit makers and influencers have found it more viable for sustaining their work.
But beyond the shifting platforms, Peller also recently made headlines for sharing a deeply personal struggle — the emotional toll of being his family’s main provider.
During a heartfelt live session with fellow content creator Sandra Benede, he opened up about his strained relationship with his family and the burden of constant responsibility.
“I no like to the see my family again. I dey send them things to make sure say them dey okay, because my mentality now don pass to dey stay with my parents,” he shared.
According to Peller, while he continues to offer financial support, he no longer feels emotionally connected to his family and finds their mindset incompatible with his current mental space.
“Content creators no longer post skits on Instagram like they used to? Many are struggling financially. Most have shifted to TikTok where they now do live streams together”
