Court Details Agradaa's Fraud Scheme

The Circuit Court in Accra has imposed a 15-year concurrent prison sentence on evangelist Patricia Asiedua (Nana Agradaa) for two counts of defrauding by false pretence, alongside a GH¢300 fine for charlatanic advertising.

Failure to pay the fine incurs an additional 30-day imprisonment.

Court documents reveal Agradaa’s fraudulent operation involved televised advertisements promising GH¢300,000 cash distributions during all-night services at Heaven Way Champions International Ministry.

Prosecutors established that she directed attendees to form 20-member groups, each paying between GH¢900–GH¢1,000 with promises of multiplied returns up to GH¢50,000.

These representations, broadcast on Today’s TV, attracted nationwide participation.

The prosecution emphasized Agradaa systematically failed to fulfill payment pledges after collecting funds. Investigators confirmed her arrest followed multiple complaints from defrauded congregants.

The sentencing reinforces Ghana’s judicial stance on faith-based exploitation under anti-corruption initiatives, with the defense planning an appeal.
