Free Zones CEO Warns Against Election Slogan Overreliance

Ghana Free Zones Authority CEO Dr. Mary Awusi has cautioned National Democratic Congress (NDC) grassroots that electoral success requires more than rallying cries like “choboeeee” or confrontational tactics.

Her remarks on TV XYZ addressed internal party debates following the appointment of former NPP figure Rosemond Obeng.

“Violence and ‘choboeeee’ alone cannot win us elections,” Awusi stated, urging members to move beyond entitlement and infighting. She emphasized the need for strategic organization and clear policy messaging ahead of the 2028 polls. The CEO called for focused support of President Mahama’s administration through structured local networks rather than relying on political theatrics.

Awusi’s intervention highlights growing concerns within the ruling party about balancing grassroots energy with substantive campaigning. Her comments follow heightened political tensions as Ghana approaches its next electoral cycle.
