Chance the Rapper explains why he missed Elmina Castle while in Ghana

Chance the Rapper has explained why he has not visited Elmina Castle despite multiple trips to Ghana.

The rapper said circumstances during his first visit in 2022 prevented him from making the trip.

“I’ve never been to Elmina Castle. I’ve been offered many times, but on my first trip in 2022 I missed a group tour bus headed to Cape Coast,” he shared.

Instead, Chance said he spent time exploring other parts of Ghana with new friends.

“In lieu of taking the trip to the slave castles, some of my newly made friends in Ghana offered me a tour of a different part of our history,” he said in a post sighted by MyNewsGh.

He explained that they visited the final resting place of Dr Kwame Nkrumah.

“We visited the final resting place of Dr Kwame Nkrumah,” Chance noted.

Chance added that he has returned to Ghana several times since then.

“Each of the seven trips I’ve taken to Ghana since my first trip, I make time to pay my respects,” he said.

Although he has not yet visited Elmina Castle, Chance indicated that his experiences in Ghana remain meaningful.

“I’ve learned a lot from each visit,” he added.
