Sky B warns young artistes after Destiny Boy’s death
Nigerian singer Sky B has warned upcoming artistes about the pressure that comes with fame following the death of young Fuji singer Destiny Boy.
Speaking in a video that has circulated widely online, Sky B said the loss of Destiny Boy should serve as a serious warning.
“We are mourning our brother, Destiny Boy, our boy that lost his life,” he said. “What happened to Destiny Boy is a clear message to you young boys out there.”
He described how the desire for success can push young people into dangerous spaces. “We don’t want to wait for the future, we want to wait for our destiny,” he said. “That thing almost happened to me.”
Sky B also spoke about a difficult period in his own life when his music career was rising fast. “I had accidents like three times in one month,” he said. “I’m not going to lie to you, I almost d!ed.”
He explained that young artistes often feel pressure to chase fame at all costs. “Everybody wants hits. Everybody wants to blow,” he said. “But not everything that looks like success is good for you.”
According to him, the industry needs to do more to protect young talents. “Our young boys are hungry for success,” he said. “But they need guidance, not pressure.”
Sky B’s message focused on caution and awareness. He urged upcoming artistes to slow down and think carefully about their choices. “Fame is not worth your life,” he said. “No success is worth losing yourself.”
He ended with a simple warning to young creatives. “Be patient. Build your life. Build your future. Don’t let pressure destroy you.”
