Stonebwoy is still my Godfather
Ghanaian dancehall musician Larruso has spoken about his relationship with fellow artist Stonebwoy and how it has influenced his career.
According to him, the connection goes beyond music collaboration and includes mentorship.
“He is my godfather,” Larruso said when asked about their relationship.
He explained that he continues to observe and learn from the award-winning musician as he builds his own path in the industry.
“I really learn a lot from him. He’s also up there and doing a lot for himself. What I have to do is just stay back and learn from him and whatever he has put on the ground,” he said.
While acknowledging the influence of Stonebwoy, Larruso said his goal is to continue building his own place within dancehall music.
“I’ll say to continue the legacy,” he said on Joy Prime monitored by MyNewsGh.
He added that the genre includes several artists who have contributed to its growth, mentioning names such as Stonebwoy and Shatta Wale.
Looking ahead, the musician said he believes his career is gradually moving in the right direction.
“I think I’m already growing into that kind of limelight,” he said.
Beyond mentorship, Larruso noted that his music inspiration still comes largely from everyday life.
“The street is my Ghana street. It gives me a lot of inspiration,” he explained, adding that some songs are also shaped by the producer’s direction during recording sessions.
