21 suspected gays/lesbians nabbed for holding conference at Ho Nurses and Midwives hostel

The Ho Circuit Court has remanded into police custody, 21 suspected , gays, bisexual, transgender, queer and intersex individuals (LGBTQI) for unlawful assembly at the Ho Nurses and Midwives hostel in the Volta Region.
A statement issued by the Public Affairs Unit of the Ghana Police Service of the region and sighted by GhanaPlus.com said the 21 including 16 females and five males were arrested on Thursday, May 20 while holding a conference at the hostel belonging to the educational institution.
The statement said the suspects were from the Greater Accra, Ashanti, Upper East, Upper West, Western, Eastern, Northern and the Volta regions and were Advocating LGBTQI activities.
“Preliminary investigations uncovered materials such as books and flyers titled; Hate Crime, LGBTQI + Muslim, Gender Acronym, Coming Out, My Child; My Love, My Love Always, All About Trans, All About Intersex, Key Watch and One Love Sisters Ghana,” the statement said.
The 21 are to re-appear before the Court on Friday, June 4, 2021, the statement said.
