Hudson-Odoi rejecting England U-21 call up is poor – Ex-star Trevor Sinclair
Former England winger Trevor Sinclair has taken a swipe at Chelsea winger Callum Hudson-Odoi after rejecting England U-21 call up.
On Thursday, England manager Gareth Southgate revealed that Hudson Odoi turn down U-21 call up after missing out in the senior team.
The Three Lions will take on Albania and San Marino in the World Cup qualifiers whereas the U-21 team face Czech Republic and Georgia next week during the international break.
The England-born Ghanaian has made three appearances for the national team but his last outing was in November 2019.
Reacting to Odoi’s decision to reject the U-21 call up, the former West Ham United and Manchester City winger branded the Chelsea marksman as ‘arrogant’.
“The only one I would say is bad is Hudson-Odoi – and I don’t mean to pick him out.
“For me, I think that’s quite arrogant. A big part of being a footballer and a big reason why you make it is staying humble.
“There’s a lot of ups and downs. When you’re flying, you’re alright, when you’re not doing so well, you’ve got people who have got your back.
“I think Hudson-Odoi saying that he’s not playing for the Under-21s is poor.”
Meanwhile, Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel has jumped to the defense of youngster insisting it is important to hear both sides of the matter.
“It’s easy to judge from the outside. You need to hear both sides.
“It’s not necessary that I’m involved. I’m not here to convince players to join when they don’t want to join.
“If there are consequences, I’m sure he will take the consequences.”
Hudson-Odoi, who remains eligible to play for Ghana, has made 10 appearances for the Blues so far this season, scoring once and providing two assists along the way.
