We were determined to win against Nigeria – Tunisia coach Mondher Kebaier
Mondher Kebaier, head coach of Tunisia’s Carthage Eagles, stated that his team was motivated to win the round of 16 match against the Super Eagles despite the absence of certain players due to COVID.
Nigeria topped their group with a 100 percent record winning all three games and was tipped to beat Tunisia ahead of the clash.
Tunisia however beat the Super Eagles of Nigeria 1-0 and the coach spoke about how they manage to overcome the Nigerians after the game.
“As we said before, we had prepared well; we had mastered our skills to counter the Nigerian team. We believed in ourselves,” he said.
“We had the desire to win and knew we had to put in a lot of efforts. We tried to win to score a goal and succeeded in doing that,”
“We knew Nigeria had fast wingers and we came up with specific tactics and had to put pressure on the wingers,”
“We trusted the group despite the COVID cases. We didn’t need players but competitors. We wish Nigeria well but we deserve to win,” he concluded.
