I will never forget my goal against Barcelona – Ansgar Knauff
Dortmund player Ansgar Knauff who is on loan at Eintracht Frankfurt has reacted to his goal against FC Barcelona.
From 18 meters, Ansgar handled a tricky rebound, completed with the second contact, let the shot slip over the outside of his foot, and dropped into the right corner.
Ansgar Knauff ignited on Thursday evening at the Waldstadion, giving Eintracht Frankfurt the lead against FC Barcelona just after the halftime.
The excited attacker spoke after the game on RTL of an “indescribable feeling” that he “could not really perceive”.
“These are the moments that you dream of as a small child. FC Barcelona, floodlights in front of such a backdrop – and then a goal like that, I will never forget that,” said Knauff,
FC Barcelona goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen praised Knauff after the game: “It feels like 20 men in front of me, then he shoots it well, a Sunday shot on Thursday – you have to congratulate that,”
Ansgar Knauff is confident Frankfurt will progress when they meet Barcelona again in the return leg.
“We’ve managed to break it down into one game and now we’re looking to go one round further at the Camp Nou next week,” said the 20-year-old.
