Ghanaian pair Richard Ofori and Kwame Peprah helps Orlando Pirates to earn $91k for reaching CAF Confederations Cup semifinal

Ghana duo of Richard Ofori and Kwame Peprah will help South African side Orlando Pirates to pocket R7 million for reaching the semifinal of the CAF Confederations Cup.

The pair played an instrumental role in the club’s qualification to the semifinal of this years Confederations Cup.

Kwame Peprah weaved his magic to score the only goal for the Black and Whites against Simba SC in the 60th minute to make it 1-1 on aggregate.

As a result, the game had to travel to the penalty shootouts and it was Pirates who emerge as winners to progress to the semifinals of the Confederations Cup.

Meanwhile, Peprah’s compatriot Richard Ofori emerged as the hero for Pirates after saving a penalty and subsequently slotting home the winning kick.

Orlando Pirates are guaranteed to pocket just a little over R7 million having qualified to the semi-finals.

Last season, Pirates bowed out of the same competition in the quarter-finals, and they walked away with $350 000 which was around R4.9 million.

Now, should Pirates go beyond the semi-finals this season, they will be guaranteed a whopping R9.8 million for reaching the CAF Confederation Cup final.

The winners of the CAF Confederation Cup will win close to R20 million in prize money.
