Kennedy Agyapong, four others to be summoned before Disciplinary Committee over – Skyy Power FM

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) leadership has announced that Mr. Kennedy Agyapong, a flagbearer candidate, will be called before the Party’s Disciplinary Committee shortly to respond to charges and threats levelled against certain Party figures.
This comes after a video that went viral on social media and in the news depicting Mr. Agyapong reportedly threatening party figures on Saturday during the NPP’s Special Electoral College Election.
The Party said four others, Mr. Raphael Patrick Sarfo, Mr. Charles Dokyi Yaw-Addo, Mr. Musa Sulemana, and Mr. Hopeson Yaovi Adorye, would also be summoned before the committee for alleged acts that almost ruined the election in a statement signed and issued by Mr. Justin Kodua Frimpong, the General Secretary.
The summons, in the Party’s view, were issued in accordance with Article 10(7)(5) of its Constitution.
While praising all candidates and their supporters for acting responsibly and abiding by the election’s norms, rules, and regulations, the Party denounced some violations that took place at several polling places.
“While the majority of voting centres experienced a smooth process, we acknowledge that isolated incidents occurred at certain locations.
“The leadership of the Party unequivocally condemns such incidents and emphasises our unwavering commitment to the integrity and fairness of the election process,” it said.
As a result, the Party declared that the individuals in the aforementioned names will be called before its Disciplinary Committee to provide more comments and other details on the charges brought against them.
“This is a direct response to evidence, including video and photographic materials, which suggest potential violations of the provisions outlined in Article 3(5)(A)(1)(2)(3) and (4) of the Party’s Constitution and a potential misconduct under Article 4(7)” it emphasised.
The statement also assured that the NPP remained committed to upholding democratic values, accountability, and the highest standards of conduct.
“We are confident that this disciplinary process will be conducted with fairness, transparency, and impartiality,” it added.
Prior to its National Delegates Congress on November 4, the NPP held its Special Electoral College Election on Saturday, August 26, 2023, to reduce the field of flagbearer candidates from ten to five.
Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the vice president, won the election with 629 of the total valid votes cast.
The top four were Mr. Kennedy Agyapong, Dr. Afriyie Akoto, and Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen.
After the two candidates deadlocked at the end of the voting, the Party is anticipated to have a runoff for Mr. Francis Addai-Nimo and Mr. Boakye Agyarko the following Saturday to choose the fifth candidate.
