Breastfeeding removes spirit of greed in children – Rev Minister – Skyy Power FM
A Methodist Church Minister, Rev Evelyn Oppong Konadu says in the process of breastfeeding a child, the mother inculcates in the child, the ability to give freely.
Speaking to Skyy News at a breastfeeding awareness program organised by the Public Health Unit of the Effia-Nkwanta Regional Hospital in Sekondi, Rev Oppong Konadu said when mothers willingly breastfeed their children, they take out the spirit of greed in them.
She said breastfeeding shows children how to love genuinely which goes beyond to impact the society they find themselves.
This comes after mothers were advised to exclusively breastfeed their babies for the period of 6 months as it is significant with the development of the babies in the early stage.
She said, “Proverbs chapter 22 verses 6 says you should train up a child the way they should go so that when they grow up they will not depart from it… in the process of breastfeeding a child, a mother inculcate in that child the ability to give freely… the reason is that some mothers don’t want to give breastmilk to their children with the reason that it will deform them.”
“We have some mothers like that but if a mother willingly breastfeeds a child, she takes the spirit of greed from the child so when they grow up they will also learn to give freely to people.”
“When you breastfeed a child, it shows the child how to love genuinely, and it will help the child show that love to people, it also teaches children to communicate well because when mothers are breastfeeding their children, they speak to them which in the process helps the children with communication as well.”
Rev Evelyn Oppong Konadu said it is important for mothers to intensify their breastfeeding activities with the child in the 6 month period of exclusive breastfeeding.
“When we are breastfeeding our children, we should try to sing godly songs, which is putting in the child the fear of god, and within the first six months period of the child, we need to intensify the breastfeeding activities with the child.”
