Cheating stems from lack of self-worth -Pastor Condemns marital infidelity
Ms Eunice Atakora Akoto Mansa, the host of Asetena Pa, recently sparked a thought-provoking discussion on the topic of marital infidelity during the latest episode of the show.
Joined by regular guest, Osofo Condemn, the two delved into the often controversial subject, exploring its causes, consequences, and the societal perceptions surrounding it.
To set the stage, Akoto Mansa shared a real-life story that captivated listeners. She recounted the experience of a woman who discovered her husband’s unfaithfulness and decided to take matters into her own hands.
The woman confronted the other woman involved in the affair at her workplace, sternly warning her to stay away from her marriage.
The confrontation, however, led to unexpected consequences. The husband, upon learning of the confrontation, was enraged, claiming that his wife had humiliated him by making a scene at the other woman’s place of work. In an emotional outburst, he demanded a separation, believing that his wife had disrespected him in public.
To make matters more complex, the woman’s family, instead of offering support, sided with the husband.
They argued that infidelity was a common issue among men and that it was the woman’s responsibility to tolerate and manage the situation until her husband decided to withdraw. They urged her to apologize for causing a scene and to seek reconciliation.
However, the woman stood firm, asserting that, rather than apologizing, she was entitled to an apology and compensation from her husband for the betrayal he had caused.
This story set the stage for an intense conversation on the show. Pastor Condemn, known for his candid views on societal issues, was quick to express his strong disapproval of infidelity.
He explained that cheating often stems from a lack of self-worth, particularly among men who engage in such behaviour. He emphasized that a lack of respect for one’s spouse, along with the failure to establish a deep emotional connection in the relationship, can lead to infidelity.
Pastor Condemn also highlighted the importance of building a marriage rooted in friendship and mutual respect.
He argued that a strong connection between partners can help mitigate the risk of cheating, adding that couples must continuously nurture their bond to maintain a healthy relationship.
“A marriage should be like a friendship, a lasting one,” he remarked, stressing that love, trust, and communication are essential for a marriage to endure challenges, including the temptation of infidelity.
Akoto Mansa and Pastor Condemn’s discussion resonated with many viewers, prompting them to reflect on their own relationships and the broader societal norms that often normalize infidelity.
The episode ended with a call for open conversations about the complexities of marriage and infidelity.
Both Akoto Mansa and Pastor Condemn urged listeners to consider the importance of self-respect, trust, and emotional connection when navigating relationships, while also acknowledging that every marriage has its own unique challenges that require understanding and communication to overcome.
This insightful discussion on Asetena Pa serves as a reminder that marital fidelity is not just a matter of individual behaviour but a reflection of the values and expectations society holds regarding relationships.
