Hilda Baci breaks Guinness World Records, becomes Longest Cooking Marathon title holder

Guinness World Records has officially confirmed Nigerian Chef and Chief Executive Officer of Myfoodbyhilda, Ms Hilda Effiong Bassey, popularly known as Hilda Baci as the new record holder of the Longest Cooking Marathon (Individual).

The 26years old was awarded a record time of 93hours, 11minutes beating India’s Lata Tondon‘s 2019, 87 hours, 45 minutes records.

Guinness World Records announced Ms Bassey’s new feet on Tuesday, June 13, 2023.

“I can now announce with a time of 93 hours and 11 minutes, Hilda Baci is the new holder of the Guinness world records title for the longest cooking marathon. Dubbed the ,COOK-A-THON, the young chef cooked for four days non-stop, day and night, spending a 100hours, 40 minutes, on some 100 different dishes, both local and continental in the event which took international appeal and across all social media platforms.

While cooking, she was entitled to only five minute break after everyone hour.

However, the records said almost seven hours were deducted from her final total because she mistakenly took extra minutes for one of her rest breaks early on in the attempt.

As with all ‘longest marathon’ records, the participant is permitted a five-minute rest break for every continuous hour of activity. These rest breaks can be accumulated if not taken. They were the only times Hilda could use the bathroom or sleep during the attempt.

”In this case, there was a miss calculation when it came to Hilda’s rest breaks, meaning we are unable to award the 100 hours claimed,” it explained.

Hilda embarked on the record journey to put Nigerian cuisine on the world map, inspire young African women to chase their dreams and also test and push her abilities.
