Nigeria’s Niger Delta Development Commission Boss faint during corruption probe

Vida Essel-LampteyThe Acting Managing Director of Nigeria’s Niger Delta Development Commission, Professor Kemebradikumo Daniel Pondei today, July 20, 2020, fainted at a House of Representative Committee probing session.
The MD was answering questions on some alleged huge payment made by his outfit in a public hearing in Abuja.
The payments were reported to have been made under his leadership to companies without regard to properly laid down procedures.
Prof. Pondei was reported to have fainted 45 minutes into the proceeding and was subsequently taken out of the meeting after members of the committee managed to revive him.

A video of the event circulating on the media shows several members of the committee attempting to revive the MD who seems to have lost consciousness during the proceeding.
Thrown into a state of panic, a member rushed to the sitting place of the MD, raised his head, and removed his nose mask to enable him to access some fresh air.
Others also fun the Prof with their booklets and sprinkle water on him.
The MD regained consciousness after some minute.
Proceedings, however, continued 30 minutes after the incident without Kemebradikumo Daniel Pondei
Niger Delta Development Commission
Niger Delta Development Commission is a federal government agency established in the year 2000 with the responsibility to oversee the development of the oil-rich Niger Delta region of the country.
It was also to train and educate the youths of the regions, help curb hostilities and militancy identified with the region, and develop key infrastructures to promote diversification and productivity.
Prof Kemebradikumo Daniel Pondei took over management of the state agency on February 19, this year when he was appointed acting Managing Director by President Muhammadu Buhari
