2 storey building collapses in Sekondi, 1 dead

The collapse of a 2-storey building in Asemensudo in the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolis of the Western Region has led to the death of a tenant and four (4) others have been hospitalised after sustaining injuries.

The sad incident happened at about 7 PM on Saturday, December 3, 2022.

The Deputy Director of the National Disaster and Management Organisation (NADMO) of the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolitan Assembly (STMA), Mr Alhaji Kamal Dean speaking on the Jolly Breakfast Show on Monday, said the building has been in a very deplorable condition due to lack of maintenance.

He said NADMO advised the owners to pull the building down as far back as July 2022, but due to a court issue between the owners and tenants, they had to hold on.
