2 student midwives die in gory accident at Asankragua


A gory accident at Asankragua in the Western Region has taken the lives of two midwife students of the Asankragua Midwifery and Training College after reporting to school on Saturday, January 15.
The deceased are Priscilla Antwi Williams, a Level 300 student and Ellen Ayitey Ansah, a Level 200, who met their untimely death after they had gone to town to braid their hair and get some food items.
According to reports, the two were crushed to death while returning to campus aboard a tricycle, by a grader machine after they had gone to braid their hair.
Dr Emmanuel Ankama, a medical doctor at the Father Allan Rooney Memorial Hospital, confirmed that the two were dead on arrival.
Four others who were involved in the accident are currently in critical condition.
“We are attending to them, and they are responding to treatment.” the doctor said.
The father of Priscilla Antwi Williams, one of the deceased spoke to Skyy Power 93.5FM and made it known he is saddened by the death of his daughter.
However, he is grateful for the swift response of the Asankragua Police Command and the hospital as they tried their best to save his daughter.
Also, he acknowledged the staff of the Asankragua Midwifery and Training College for their tremendous support and effort in these trying times.
