30 selected accomplished women from the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolis spent some time with the Queen Mother of Sekondi at the Sekondi Palace on 1st Jan 2023.
These 30 women were selected from the media, academia, faith/religion, civil society, politics and culture.
Present at the event was the Queen Mother of Sekondi, the Western Regional Minister who doubles as the Member of Parliament (MP) for Takoradi, Hon Kwabena Okyere Darko Mensah, MP for Sekondi, Lawyer Egyapa Mercer. and other Queen Mothers.
The purpose was to recognise the role and contribution of women in developing the region.
The WR Minister speaking at the event said, “Western Region is developing, Western Region is seeing a lot of improvement and naturally there is no way we are going to see this right if we don’t recognise and appreciate our women.”
“This is will allow us to listen to issues concerning women and see how we can put them in perspective, and therefore in doing so, it will engender a lot of movement that will crown a lot of things we have done.”
