38,635 candidates sit for BECE in Western Region on Monday

The Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) for Junior High Schools (JHS) will officially begin on Monday, October 17, 2022, nationwide.
A total number of 38,635 students in the Western Region will sit for the exams which comprise 19,649 males and 18,986 females.
Speaking on the Jolly Breakfast Show on Friday, October 14, the Public Relations Officer (PRO) for the Ghana Education Service in the Western Region, Madam Betty Etroo further indicated that 1,258 schools are participating in the exams.
Among those schools, 786 of them are public schools whiles 472 are private schools.
The exams will be written at 128 centres across the region with a total number of 1385 invigilators involved.
Madam Etroo said they have done their possible best to advise the children against sending foreign materials to the exams hall and have urged them to prepare very well and have the confidence to write the exams.
She added, “Teachers who escort their students to the centres must be out of sight until the exams are done and should not try to help their students. Also, invigilators must be very vigilant and try not to help the students in the process of the exams.”
“Parents must pray for their wards and must make sure they don’t send their phones to the exams centres by taking it away until the exams are done,” she said.
