Atleast forty (40) people have been hospitalised after a train from Kojokrom heading to the Takoradi Harbour developed a fault on Thursday, March 10.

According Mr Ofori Dakye, an assembly member in New-Takoradi who spoke to Skyy News explained that the train developed a fault leading to the driver to lose control of the locomotive.
In the process, thick smoke started to emanate from the engine area of the train leading the driver to jump out to save himself.

After jumping out, he started to alert others to do same, but it was difficult because the doors were locked and were not responding to command.
They however managed to break the windows and in the course of escaping, sustained some degrees of injuries. Eight (8) students from Bompeh Senior High School are in a critical condition and have been admitted at the New Takoradi Health Centre.

It was confirmed that at least, forty (40) people, mostly students and workers who sustained injuries have been admitted at the health centre.
