Awulae Attibrukusu III appeals to government to complete Sea Defence wall and other projects in Axim


The Paramount Chief of Lower Axim Traditional Council in the Nzema East Municipality of the Western Region, Awulae Attibrukusu III has appealed to the Government to as a matter of urgency see to the completion of the Sea Defence Wall, Fish Landing Beach and the Multi-purpose Sports Complex which are at different phases of completion.

He said this at the Climax of the 2022 Axim Kundum Festival at Axim which was on the theme: “Promoting Quality Health Delivery, The Role of Traditional Leadership”. Awulae Attibrukusu III noted that the month-long Kundum Festival celebrations are in line with their customs and traditions.
He added that social economic goals targeted are achieved using the Kundum Festival to promote its realization. According to him, the people of Axim prioritize health care delivery and their well-being and it is against this backdrop that, in the year 2017, the Axim Traditional Council responded to the request of the Authorities of the Axim Government Hospital in connection with their deteriorated theatre block.
Awulae Attibrukusu III mentioned that the new theatre block will enhance quality health care delivery in the area.
The Western Regional Minister, Kwabena Okyere Darko-Mensah said Awulae Attibrukusu and the people of Axim have inspired the government to strive hard to ensure that it promotes quality Healthcare delivery in the country by achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.
He added that the construction of the theatre block is in line with governments at ensuring the development of health infrastructure across the country.
He said in the Western Region, Elubo, Tarkwa-Nsuaem, Bogoso, Bokro and Mpohor are benefitting from this project.
Mr Darko-Mensah encouraged the youths in the area to take advantage of the Youstart initiative to better their lives.
Touching on the theme for the celebration, the Chief Executive Officer at Adamus Resources, Angela List mentioned that, the theme is a step in the right direction as the institution of Chieftaincy and issues related to tradition plays a critical role in promoting development in every community.
She noted that health care delivery is not a task for any individual or institution but rather a collective role by all and sundry and must be prioritized.
She urged the people to keep the community clean to avoid preventable diseases and reduce the spread of communicable diseases.
She said quality is the standard Ghanaians should aspire to have when it comes to having affordable, accessible and reliable health care delivery as health is wealth.
Mrs List said access to quality health care must be available to persons across the length and breadth of the country and not be limited to only those in the cities.
According to her, the world has now become a Global village and as such Traditional Authorities must take advantage to solicit funds for developmental projects in their communities.
