Case involving SHS students who set Bolt driver ablaze in Sekondi adjourned

The case involving the Senior High School (SHS) students who are facing trial for allegedly setting a Bolt driver who also turned out to be a Naval Officer ablaze in Sekondi has been adjourned to May 10.

The first accused in the person of Adolf Eshun, 17, was however discharged during the last court meeting on the Attorney General’s (AG) orders as he was found not guilty.

According to the Prosecutor, they are yet to receive a bill of the indictment from the AG’s office after a docket was sent about a month ago.

Lawyer Abakah Senior, the counsel for the accused was however not happy with the continuous adjournment of the case indicating he would advise himself if it continues in the next proceedings.

Speaking with Skyy Power 93.5FM after the court proceedings, he said, “We were expecting that the prosecution is going to be ready with the bill of indictment, which is the summary of evidence the prosecution is going to rely on for the trial of the accused persons.”

“It was quite inappreciable when the prosecution said they have sent a docket to the AG’s office and are yet to receive a response… the faith of these boys must be determined and for about three to four months now the processes that should set the trial on is still not ready.

Counsel made it know it’s really not the best in the manner they keep adjourning the case and he will advise himself if it continues this way.

The 2nd and 3rd accused Patrick Baidoo, 18, and Lord Adjei Odiku, 17, who according to the police confessed to the crime, have been remanded in police custody.
