Continue your education after childbirth – WR GES Director to pregnant BECE candidates – Skyy Power FM
The Western Regional Director of the Ghana Education Service (GES), Madam Felicia Agyeibea Okine is encouraging pregnant candidates who partook in the just-ended Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) to continue their education after childbirth through the re-entry program.
Speaking to Skyy News, Madam Agyeibea Okine said pregnancy and childbirth cannot be a factor for one to abolish her education hence the encouragement for them to continue to a higher level if they get the needed support.
This comes after the education service recorded a number of pregnant candidates during this year’s BECE.
She said, “If the student completed her BECE and her results were good, then she should continue her education because we are encouraging re-entry, this is a policy we are following to help nursing mothers continue their education.”
She said parents should encourage their wards to attend any school the placement system chooses for them since every school has well-qualified and equipped tutors.
“Teachers in all the Senior High Schools had the same training at the various training colleges and universities and after their training was posted to our various SHS, so every school has a well-qualified teacher, so we encourage the parents to let their wards attend any school they get.”
“If they tend to change their schools after the place, they tend to put pressure on us and the system which gives us a tough time.”
She added that parents should keep checking their mobile phones for any updates concerning the release of results.
