Court orders Salaga sodomy teacher to undergo psychiatric examination

The Tamale Circuit Court has ordered a psychiatric assessment for the Salaga basic school teacher, Natomah Otabel facing trial for allegedly sodomizing 19 pupils.
3news.com report, the court presided by His Lordship Alexander Owaroe ordered the accused be taken to Pantang Hospital for the medical examination.
Salaga teacher accused of sodomy
Mr Otabel, a teacher at Kulpi M/A Junior High School in the East Gonja Municipality of the Savannah Region was on Monday September 27 arrested by the Salaga Police for allegedly sodomizing 19 puplis in the school.
He was arrested in the early hours of Monday, following a complaint lodged by some family members of the victims.
Mr Otabel was subsequently arraigned before a court and has since pleaded guilty to all charges leveled against him.
The teacher pleaded guilty to charges of defiling and having unnatural carnal knowledge of the 19 pupils.
Victim of Salaga sodomy shares experience with the media
Sharing their ordeal with the media, one of the victims said the teacher threaten to beat them if they fail to oblige.
“He said if we don’t allow him, he will give us difficult work that we can’t do then he will get the chance to beat us”
Mr Otabel, identified as a Pentecost Church elder in the community, the victim said threatened them to keep mute about his deeds or face his wrath..
His actions have been condemned by Ghanaians including renowned broadcaster and NewDay host, Jonnie Hughes as well as the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection.
