Deputy Minority leader calls for development in Western Region – Skyy Power FM

As Ghana’s parliament marks its 30th anniversary in the 4th Republic, the Deputy Minority leader in Parliament, Mr Armah Kofi Buah is calling for development in the Western Region.
Mr Kofi Buah speaking at a public forum in Takoradi on Tuesday, August 8 said that the region being the country’s breadbasket has been starved of development.
He said the Western Region is the backbone of the country’s economy and deserves better for itself as it generates a hundred per cent (100%) of the oil revenue to the country which amounts to billions of dollars, including other resources.
He said, “A fair distribution of the national cake, as a son of the Western Region, I am adding to the number of those who have raised concerns on development in the region.”
“We have road challenges and how in God’s name will you have a region that is the bread basket of the country struggle with a hospital? l I come from the Ellembelle district, any time there is an emergency in the night they call me, the MP, and they rush them to the Effia Nkwanta Hospital and they will be referred to Korle Bu due to capacity reasons. And then the difficult obvious journey of getting a bed in Korle Bu starts.”
“How many times have we returned to our various constituencies with dead bodies that could be saved.”
“When we talk about development in the Western Region we say so because developing the Western Region is in the national interest of Ghana.”
The 4-time MP for the Ellembelle Constitu further said speaking on parliamentary proceedings said the existence of a strong minority has held the balance in parliament.
He advised parliamentarians to work collectively.
