The Inspector General of Police (IGP)Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, has strongly cautioned the public against participating in any kind of electoral malfeasance as the December elections approaches.
He stressed that offenders will be subject to the full force of the law.
Speaking at the opening of a new police station in Akyem-Manso, in the Eastern Region. Dr. Dampare reassured Ghanaians that the police force is prepared to guarantee peaceful elections.
He outlined steps to identify and deal with any potential unrest.
“Don’t be lured into creating confusion during the polls because my people will not spare you. Don’t forget that the people who will lure you to create confusion will switch off their phones when you are arrested. They will simply abandon you,” he warned.
The IGP urged citizens to demonstrate respect for Ghana’s democracy by exercising their voting rights peacefully.
He reassured the public of the police’s commitment to maintaining law and order, creating a secure environment for free and fair elections.
“We are fully prepared, and I can assure you that the elections will be peaceful,” Dr. Dampare affirmed, calling on all Ghanaians to support efforts to uphold the integrity of the electoral process.
