Electoral Commission extends 24hr timeline for declaration of presidential results

Vida Essel-LampteyThe Electoral Commission of Ghana has extended the 24hour timeline set to declare results of the 2020 Presidential elections.
“The Electoral Commission informs the General Public that to ensure the collation of results at the Constituency and Regional Collation Centres across the country is accurate, the EC will extend its intended timeline for declaring the 2020 Presidential election results. The new timeline will be communicated shortly”.
The changes to the commission’s early pronouncement, a statement released on Tuesday about 4:30PM said was to enable the electoral body present accurate results to Ghanaians.
“As such, to ensure that the declared Presidential results are 100% accurate and reflective of the will of the people, the Commission entreats the Public and all Stakeholders to exercise patience as the collation process continues in the presence of Political Party agents and election observers”.
The commission assures the public that transparency, integrity and fairness still remains it’s hallmark hence it decision to ensure its present to the country its true representation as far as their votes casts was concerned.
“The Commission has continually reiterated that transparency, integrity and fairness are the yard stick by which it conducted the 2020 Presidential and Parliamentary Elections”.

Electoral Commission to Declare Result in 24hours
The Electoral Commission on November 20, 2020 said it would declare results of the 2020 Presidential elections in 24hours after the polls barring any impediment.
The claims were rubbished by the opposition NDC describing it as impossible and unrealistic.
