The Evangelical Methodist Church International has asked the public to disregard assertion made by the Head Pastor of the Asylum Down branch of the church , Apostle Dr Daniel Adjei that members of the church are unable to pay tithe and offering due to hardship in the country.
A statement released by the church and dated August 5 said Apostle Adjei’s utterances does not represent the position of the church hence must be disregarded.
“The Evangelical Methodist mission wishes to make this public announcement and to all concerned regarding public utterances by Apostle- Adjei during a recent “fix the country” demonstration dated 4th August, 2021. His public utterances do not represent the position of Evangelical Methodist (mission) church,” he statement said.
The church described the utterances of the pastor as a loose talk adding the church does not rely on tithes and offerings for it mission work which was to promulgate the gospel through education.
It added the church, a Christian foundation advocates for change of mind through education and not through demonstration.
“The Evangelical Methodist mission is a Christian foundation for the promulgation of the gospel, we advocate for change of mind through education not public demonstration. We have built schools(Obo Methodist JSS). We secured the Taifa Experimental school property). The finances of the mission does not rely on tithes and offerings. We therefore ask all concern to disregard those loose utterances as it does not represent the position of the mission, his association with the church is under review,” it further stated.
