First Lady Rebecca Akufo-Addo refund in full all allowances paid her since January 2017

The First Lady of Ghana, Mrs Rebecca Akufo-Addo has paid in full all allowances paid her since January 7th, 2017 when her husband became the President of the country.
A statement dated, July 13 and sighted by GhanaPlus.com said “I am directed to forward herewith a consolidated bank of Ghana limited a cheque number 000002 for an amount of GH899,097.84(Eight Hundred and Ninety Nine Thousand, Ninty Seven Ghana Cedis, Eight Four pesewas being the full refund of monies received from January 7th 2017 to date as allowances given to Her Excellency the First Lady of Republic”.
The statement also reiterated the First Lady’s decision not to accept the salaries for the Presidential spouses as approved by Parliament upon the recommendation of the Prof Yaa Ntiamoa- Baidu chaired committee on emolument.
“As disclosed by the statement issued on the 12th of July, Her Excellency the First Lady, of the republic was refunding the amount stated above and also take this opportunity to decline any allowances to be paid her in the future”
The statement, however, assures Ghanaian that Mrs Rebecca Akufo-Addo was committed to her role and the first lady of the country and continue all of her humanitarian activities, most importantly the well being of women and Children.
“Her Excellency the First Lady remains committed to her role as the first lady and is devoted to her charity work, championing the well being of women and children in Ghana,” the statement added .
