Fomena MP formerly informs Speaker he will join NPP Caucus in Parliament

The Member of Parliament, Andrew Asiamah Amoako has officially written to the Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin to officially inform him of his intention to transact business with the New Patriotic Party’s Caucus in Parliament.

A letter from the only Independent MP in Ghana’s eight Parliament sighted by GhanaPlus.com said in transacting business in the house, he will join the ruling NPP which is also his former party.

“I Andrew Asiamah Amoako, an Independent Member of Parliament for Fomena Constituency and now 2nd Deputy for the same Parliament, do hereby declare that I shall for the purpose of transacting business in the house associate with the NPP Caucus in Eight Parliament”.

“For the avoidance of doubt, I do hereby affirm that I shall cooperate and collaborate with the NPP Caucus in the Eight Parliament,” the MP emphasized.

Sack Fomena MP to join NPP in Parliament

The sacked Member of Parliament for the Fomena Constituency in the Central Region, Andrew Amoako Asiamah following the retention of his seat in Parliament on December 7 said on various platforms that he would conduct business with his former party.

According to him, his decision to join the NPP despite the internal wrangling which saw his elimination from the party was per the advice of his constituents whom he represent.

His decision to join the NPP gives the party a slim majority over its political opponent, the National Democratic Congress(NDC) in conducting business of the house but does not make him a member of caucus.

He would however, would have to resign from his current position as an independent candidate of the house, for a by election to be held, if he so wish to join the party or finish his four years tenure as an independent candidate before he could take such decision.
