Headmaster illegally charging JHS graduate GHS10 before school of choice selection

Information reaching Skyy Power 93.5FM indicates that the headmaster of Whindo-Assakae M.A JHS in the Effia-Kwesimintsim Municipality (EKMA) of the Western Region is charging the 2021 JHS graduate, GHS10 before they can select their schools of choice.

This comes after the Ghana Education Service (GES) made some changes concerning the selection of schools as students were to select their schools of choice after their final exams.

Skyy Power FM journalist, Alex Tagoe, was at the school to ascertain facts concerning the information and it was confirmed by two JHS teachers after the headmaster, Mr John Adjei was unavailable at the moment.

Also, according to the teachers, the headmaster had planned to meet the parents and students to brief them on why they are to pay such an amount of money for their school selection.

Speaking to the Public Relations Officer (PRO) for GES in the Western Regional, Madam Etroo indicated that the government of Ghana has made all the necessary provisions for the process and no student is to pay a ‘dime’ for the school selection process.

She further explained that what the school or the headmaster is engaging in is an illegal act and no student or parent in any part of the country is to pay any amount of money to their respective schools for the process.
