Holy Child Center of Excellence prevents pupils from entering school – Skyy Power FM

Children attending Holy Child Center of Excellence at Fijai this morning were prevented from entering the school nor having lessons from the school henceforth as school resumes today.
This we are told is a result of a long-standing conflict between Parents and the Management of Holy Child College of Education which has been addressed by the Ministry of Education in a letter dated 26 January 2022, with Ref No.GES/DD-G(MS)/2/22/13 which was signed by the Deputy Director-General (MS) for Education, Mr Anthony Boateng directing the college not to close down the school.
In that meeting, which was presided over by the Minister of Education and was attended by the management of the college, a representative of the GES, as well as representatives of the Parent Teacher Association of the school, agreed that the school is a public school under the management of Ghana Education Service and should continue as such.
It was again agreed that the College, GES and the parents should sit together to discuss the management of the school in order to create the opportunity for all the stakeholders to play effective roles in the management and administration of the school.
And that the College was also directed to take steps to account for levies paid by the parents to it, and that the PTA of the school should operate like the PTA like any other public school and is expected that they will play a facilitating role in ensuring that the decisions taken at the meeting are given effect and that the school is managed and administered smoothly as a public institution to offer quality education to children of the community.
So parents who spoke to Skyy News were surprise to see the management of the college take a decision to lock up the school.
Efforts to speak to the Management of Holy Child College of Education and the Ghana Education Service have not materialized.
