The Founder and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of McDan Group of Companies, Dr. Daniel McKorley has disclosed that he does not want to be known for all the wealth he has created for himself as an entrepreneur.
Arguably, one of the most successful and richest businessmen the country has ever had, the Ghanaian business mogul, said he would rather love to be remembered for the many lives he had impacted in his environment.
“I want to be noted not for how much money I have made but how many lives I have touched, that is what I want to be noted for”.
“What do you want to be noted for; some of you are very great in the brain, what do you add to the society around you,” he quizzed.
Dr. Mckorley made the remarks when he addressed young diplomats at the inaugural Ghana Youth Meeting, held at the World Bank Group in Accra.
Speaking at the annual event which seeks to provide young people the opportunity to leverage on the expertise of speakers among others, the McDan CEO said what matters most in life were the legacies left behind as citizens, irrespective, of one’s career path.
He challenged young people to make a positive and meaningful impact to better the lives of others in their communities and the world at large.
“I don’t want to ask my children, when you grow, what do you want to be, do you want to be a diplomat or you want to be a doctor, I want to ask my children, what solution do you want to bring to mankind. What you can create, what can you add to the world you came to meet” he said

The Ghana Youth Meeting (GYM)
The Ghana Youth Meeting (GYM) is an annual knowledge sharing and youth empowerment platform hosted by Young Diplomats of Ghana at the World Bank Group offices in Accra.
The event offers participants specialized learning and networking opportunities for knowledge-sharing, connections, and action beyond the meeting to enable them to fit into the global order as young leaders.
It also provides them the opportunity to leverage on the experiences and expertise of participants, speakers, special guests, and workshop facilitators in an interactive setting to equip young people to join the fight against poverty and create shared prosperity.
