Junkies are reason street lights don't work in Sekondi-Takoradi

The Metropolitan Chief Executive (MCE) in the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolitan Assembly (STMA), says the reason street lights in the metropolis are not working is due to the stealing of wires that connects the light by drug addicts.

According to him, this issue has been a headache for the assembly as most street lights are not working due to some selfish recalcitrants who have made it their day job to cut the wires of street lights to sell.

“The street lights are interconnected so when they cut a cable at one side, it affects all the lights that have been mounted on a particular stretch.”

“They don’t care about the effects that come with their actions, I will involve the police, military and other security agencies to be part of an operation to stop these recalcitrants from the practice, if not so, then any action we take concerning street lights will be equal to zero,” Mr Issah Mumin said.

The MCE then made it known they will provide 100 street lights for every constituency in the Western Region.

Following this issue, Mr Abdul Mumin says his attention has been drawn to that problem and that by the end of the year, they are going to provide every constituency with 100 street lights to lighten up the constituency.
