Mensah Otabil did not resign

The Board of Trustees of the National Cathedral has refuted media report that Founder and General Overseer of the International Central Gospel Church(ICGC) ,Dr Mensah Otabil has resigned as a member of the Trustee.
A statement dated June 17 and signed by the Executive Director, National Cathedral, Dr Opoku Onyinah said the renowned man of God only excused himself as far back as 2019 and never resigned as reported.
“The Board of Trustees had to be registered as the Directors of the company. A member of Trustees, Dr Mensah Otabil, General Overseer of the International central Gospel church had indicated that he couldn’t give the needed attention to the project so he didn’t register”.
“So Dr Mensah Otabil did not resign from the Board as being reported but excuse himself at the point of the registration of the Directors in July 2019”.
“For the avoidance of doubt, Dr Mensah Otabil has not been a member of the board of trustees since July 2019,” the statement sighted by GhanaPlus.com emphasized.
The statement explained the continues usage of the ICGC’s leader’s details is only an administrative error committed by the Secretariat.
It further added, although, Dr Mensah Otabil is no longer a member of the trustees, he is still interested in the project and assist the Secretariat with his views every now and then.
” Dr Mensah Otabil nevertheless remains actively interested in the project and continues to share his views on strategy with the secretariat”.
“The continuous use of his name and picture on the website and publications was an administrative lapse by the secretariat”.
Mensah Otabil Resigns for National Cathedral Board of Trustee
News of Dr Mensah Otabil’s exist from the Board of Trustees of the National Cathedral put together by the President to oversee the construction of the 5,000 capacity facility and the continues use of his details on Secretariat’s website have become a matter of discussion throughout the week.
The news followed the announcement that government has released $25m to the secretariat as additional seed money.
Many are of the view, perhaps, the man of God resigned due to the alleged misappropriation of the tax payer money on the construction of the facility launched by President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo in 2017 in fulfillment of a personal pledge to God prior to his elections.
The news of Dr Mensah Otabil’s resignation was made public by the Member of Parliament for the North Tongu Constituency, Mr Okudzeto Ablakwa on June 13 and questioned, the continuous use of his details by the Secretariat.
