Ministry of Trade wants to ensure green initiatives and technologies are applied to industrial development to curb environmental pollution

The Western Regional Director for the Ministry of Trade and Industry, Mr Isaac Yankson says the Ministry is playing a collaborative role to ensure that green initiatives and technologies are applied to industrial development to help curb the menace of environmental pollution.

Speaking at the 2022 SNV Regional Trade Show in collaboration with the European Union in the Western Region, he indicated that SNV is creating sustainable development by providing SMEs with the chance to bring on board innovative ideas that transcend into the production of products which seeks to eliminate pollution and help to save our planet from being polluted with unwanted materials.

“It is our hope that decent and productive work in the green and circular economy for the youth, women and returning migrants is strongly sustained through collaboration with relevant Ministries Department and agencies to create the needed opportunities to help grow our economy.”

He further recommended that the green innovation support by the SNV would be extended to our universities and technical institutes so that the project works of students could also be supported to generate new innovative products that could serve the needs of our society and also curb the menace of environmental pollution.

Mr Yankson also added that the core objective is to promote open exportable opportunities for SMEs through Trade Fairs and Exhibitions which is also in line with National Export Development Strategy (NEDS) being championed by the Ghana Export Promotion Authority.

He added, “We find today’s event as a complement to our efforts in promoting Made-In-Ghana Goods, ensuring the creation of decent jobs, and export opportunities for our SMEs.

“The Ministry is of trade and Industry is strategically implementing its industrial Transformation Agenda through 10 interlinked projects areas One District One Factory, Strategic Anchor Industries, Business and Regulatory Regime, SME development, industrial Park development, National Export Development Strategy among others.

Mr Yankson further recommended that the green innovation support by the SNV would be extended to our universities and the technical institutes so that projects and works of students could also be supported to generate new innovative products that could serve the needs of our society and also curb the menace of environmental pollution.
