Mpohor District to become educational hub in Western Region
The District Chief Executive (DCE) of Mpohor District, Mr Ignatius Asaah Mensah is on the mission to convert Mpohor District into the educational hub of the Western Region.
Speaking with Skyy Power 93.5FM, he made it known since he became the DCE, he has made a consistent effort to improve education through the provision of infrastructure, a conducive teaching and learning environment where learning can effectively take place.
He said, “I have consistently tried as much as possible to use the government money to build education infrastructure like classrooms, furniture and also supporting the education directorate with materials and also facilitating workshops for teachers to upgrade their knowledge.”
Still, on infrastructure, he made mention of 3 and 6 classroom blocks that have been built in Ayiem, Dominase, Wiredu Krom and Akotrom communities in the district and other ongoing projects, which is the building of other Kindergarten blocks in Manso, Adansi and Ayiem.
Mr Mensah explained that this is an intervention by the government to improve education tremendously in the district and is however manifesting through the recent Basic Education Examination (BECE) and West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) results.
According to him, Mpohor is ranked 3rd among best performing districts in the Western Region in terms of Education due to their historical results which they are aiming to be the first to attract students from all over the country and become the educational hub in the region.
He emphasised Mpohor Senior High School’s remarkable results from the just-ended WASSCE and is hoping that the school will emerge the best among others in the subsequent exams. He explained that with the needed infrastructure, which they are working on, their aim will be achieved.
Speaking on security in his district, he indicated that, tight measures were put in place before the beginning of the year and so, therefore, have not recorded any serious incident in regards to security issues.
Also, the assembly is putting in serious effort when it comes to security which their major goal is to have a crime-free community.
