Multimedia Group’s Samson Lardy Anyenini adjudged 2019 GJA Journalist of the Year

Legal practitioner and JoyNews weekend current affairs program, Newsfile host, Samson Lardy Anyenini has been adjudged the winner of the coveted P.A.V Ansah Journalist of the Year Award.
Mr. Anyenini was awarded the 2019 P.A.V Ansah Journalist of the Year Award at the 25th Ghana Journalist Awards held at the Movenpick Ambassador Hotel in Accra on Saturday, October 24, 2020.
The media practitioner with over 2decade experience took over from Graphic Communications Group’s Junior Graphic Editor, Doreen Hammond who won the award last year.
P.A.V Ansah Journalist of the Year Award, preferable, GJA Over All Best Journalist of the Year Award is presented annually to one distinguished journalist from the print, radio and television media who perform exceptionally well in the year under review at the award scheme which seeks to celebrate achievement in the media and promote professionalism and high journalistic standards among others.
This year’s award is on the theme “COVID-19 and credible presidential and parliamentary elections: The media factor”

Award Citation
A citation accompanying the ultimate award of the night reads,
“You have over the year used your profession to educate the masses about diverse areas of life. Indeed, your programme has become a must-watch that makes millions around the globe tune-in to radio and television to listen to your panels.
“Your excellent questioning skills, skillful application of the knowledge of the law, and your objectivity are part of excellence and you have made your programme a reference point for social and national issues…”
Acceptance Speech
In an acceptance speech, Mr. Anyenini urged colleague journalists to remain steadfast in their profession, especially, at this particular time when the country was preparing to go to the polls and caution the police and politicians against harassing journalists in the cause of the duty.
The night saw a total of 64 awards presented to journalists from various media houses in the country including print, television, and radio.
