NADMO halts construction of church in flood-prone area at New Site.

The National Disaster and Management Organisation (NADMO) at Effia-Kwesimintsim Municipal Assembly (EKMA) has restricted the construction of a church in a flood-prone area closer to the Okatakyie Hotel in New Site.

The Municipal NADMO Director, Mr Henry Koufie who led his team to halt the construction on Friday, February 18 explained to Skyy Power 93.5FM that the decision to build a church or any form of a building at the site is a dangerous idea because it is life-threatening to people living around the area.

According to him, the storm drains at Effia and Kansarodo are linked through the site to discharge water into the Butre lagoon.

He also noted that the church has not acquired a permit from EKMA to build in the area hence the need to halt the process.

Mr Koufie indicated this is not the first time he has halted the process but the second and he will rather prevent a disaster than manage one.
