The Managing Editor of the Insight Newspaper, Kwesi Pratt Jnr has disclosed discussions are ongoing in the National Democratic Congress(NDC) to approve the Minister designate for Finance, Mr Ken Ofori-Atta, his performance at the vetting regardless to mess up the economy to make the ruling New Patriotic Party(NPP) unpopular.

That he said , the NDC  noted would  unable them ride on Mr Ofori-Atta’s failure to victory in the 2024 election since according to them, he had run the economy aground and ultimately had nothing new to offer as far as restoring it was concern.

According to him, the discussions were being made by some prominent persons in the NDC, some of whom were his friends.

“Am hearing prominent NDC people arguing that, Ken Ofori-Atta must be approved, no matter the his performance, he must be approved, their argument is that he has run the economy aground and that he has nothing new to offer and that if he is given the finance minister, he will destroy things even more for the NPP to become unpopular so that they win elections”.

Mr Kwesi Pratt Jnr made the revelation on Friday, March 26 on Pan African Television’s Good Morning Africa, monitored by GhanaPlus.com.

He described the discussions as stupid and extremely foolish and urged the NDC to do so at the detriment of their own party adding Mr Ofori-Atta records where public records which Ghanaians were very much aware of.

“Yesterday, I spent some time with my some  of my friends, Big men in the NDC and that is how they were talking, foolish, extremely foolish some NDC big men,” he added.

Parliament set to approve Ken Ofori-Atta

Ghana is awaiting a approval or otherwise of the Minister designate for Finance, Mr Ken Ofori-Atta having gone through vetting successfully on Thursday and and Friday, March 25 and 26 respectively.

The Minister was questioned by the Vetting Committee of Parliament on the state of the country’s economy among others.

If approved, Mr Ofori-Atta would be serving in the same capacity  for the second time under President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo‘s government.
