Supporters of the opposition National Democratic Congress(NDC) have massed up in their numbers at the office of the Electoral Commission ahead of the Commission’s declaration of Presidential results.
The supporters numbering thousands including men and women clad in party paraphernalia, UTV report said they have covered the stretch from the Accra Psychiatric Hospital down to the EC office and it’s environs.
Dancing to popular campaign song of the flag bearer, the supporters held placards some of which reads “Accepts the result for peace”, Declare JM winner now”, “Ghanaians have spoken”, “EC, we want peace”, “the youth voted for John” among others.
UTV report, about four campaign vehicles each of them playing various songs of their flag bearer could be counted at the premises with many more supporters trooping in from all angles.
Supporters Speaks with the Media
Speaking to the television station, one of the party’s supporters said, Mahama handed over power to Nana Addo peacefully and expect Nana Addo to same.
She indicated that the NDC’s data revealed that they had won the presidential race convincingly; hence they could not fathom why the EC had failed to declare the result in favour of their candidate.
Others accused the television station and others of projecting fake result adding that when they come into power, they would deal with those media houses.
“John Mahama has won, they should give it to him, we are tired of Akufo Addo, Electoral Commission should declare it for Mahama,” another stated.
“Since 1992, if Democratic wins in America, Democratic win in Ghana, if Republican wins in America, Republican win in Ghana, a Democrat has won in America, Democrat must win in Ghana too,” another said.
“We have win more seat in parliament so we have won, they should not steal the verdict from us, Mahama has won,” another said.
Heavy Security Presence at EC’s Office
