Lawyer Gertrude Mona Effah has been elected as the parliamentary candidate for the Wassa East Constituency on the ticket of the New Patriotic Party (NPP)
She won by 317 votes against Mr Godfred Okyere Owusu AKA Home Boy Spanky who had 310 and Mr Patrick Tawiah Amprofi who had 66 votes.
She said she used a strategy of going down to earth with the delegates to garner their support to win the election.
“People looked down on me because of this strategy, I went down to earth with the delegates, and I listened carefully to all their concerns and became a part of them.”
“I bought their votes through that.”
Speaking on Skyy Power FM’s Jolly Breakfast Show, she said even though she has emerged as the winner, she will need the support of the other aspirants to win the seat from the NDC.
“I called Spanky after the elections, we need to come together unit as one and unseat the incumbent MP of the NDC.”
