NSS persons advised to be innovative
Mr Sebil William, Principal of the Bolgatanga Nursing Training College, has advised graduates and national service personnel to be innovative and venture into entrepreneurship to create employment for themselves and others.
He said with the right ideas, discipline, and focus, one could start a business on their own instead of the constant reliance on the government for employment opportunities that were not forthcoming.
Mr William gave the advice at Bolgatanga in the Upper East Region during the orientation of the 2021/2022 batch of National Service Personnel, organized by the Bolgatanga Municipal Secretariat of the National Service Scheme (NSS).
The Principal noted that the government employment sector was choked and called for individuals especially graduates to think outside the box and practically apply what they had learnt in schools to create their own jobs.
He said there was no job that is useless as perceived, adding, “You just need to position yourself well and focus on whatever you are doing and you will make it.”
He said one does not need a huge capital to start a business but it is a matter of taking advantage of opportunities available and making the best out of it.
Mr Brown Korley, the Bolgatanga Municipal Manager of the NSS, noted that about 800 graduates have been posted to the Municipality to undertake their mandatory national service and urged the personnel to serve the nation with diligence.
He said national service was meant to instil the virtues of service, patriotism, and nationalism in the youth to contribute significantly to the development of the nation.
He said it was also an opportunity for the graduates to develop themselves and learn on the job and also advised the graduates to respect their user agencies and try to develop themselves and by doing that, it would make them ready for the job market after the one year of service.
